Why We're Building a Backpack for TCG Players

We've been heads-down on something for months, and today's the day we finally get to show you a piece of it and tell you why.

If you've ever shown up to game night with a laptop bag, a deck box wedged into whatever pocket it fit in, a playmat tube tucked under one arm, and dice rolling around loose at the bottom of everything else, you already know the problem.

Most bags marketed to tabletop players weren't actually designed for tabletop players. They're just school backpacks or laptop bags someone happened to also stuff a deck box into, not built with cards in mind at all.

So we're building something else. We're calling it the Stoneforge Backpack, built the way it should have been from day one, not a school bag with a bottomless pit you can never find anything in. Instead of taking a normal backpack and seeing what fits, we started with what a TCG player actually carries and built the bag around that.

That means every compartment, pocket, and access point exists because of something specific: a deck, a playmat, a Commander Essentials Kit, a card worth showing off, not because a generic bag happened to leave room for it.

Here's what we can say so far:

• A real home for your decks, up to 13 in total
• No more separate playmat tube
• A little extra security for players who hit conventions or take public transit
• A place for everything you need for game night

We're not ready to walk through every detail yet. This is the first of a few things we want to share as it comes together. For now, just know the starting point: a real "designed by nerds, for nerds" bag, built from the ground up around game night, not retrofitted to survive it.

The Stoneforge is headed to Kickstarter, launching October 20, 2026. Campaigns like this only make it to full production with backer support, so if you want to see this bag actually happen, this is where it starts.
