If you’re the kind of nerd who pauses mid-game to admire the art, this one’s for you.
We’re excited to announce that Clint Cearley’s artwork is now available as official Nerd Gear playmats. Big table presence, premium feel, and the kind of cinematic fantasy (and sci‑fi) energy that makes your whole setup look like the opening scene of a campaign — the kind you'll want to stock up on D&D dice for too.
Who is Clint Cearley?
Clint Cearley is a fantasy illustrator and art educator known for bold, character-driven work and a polished illustrative realism style. With 12+ years as a full-time freelance artist, he’s created 100+ illustrations for Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, and has also worked in the game industry as a Senior Outsource Art Supervisor at Blizzard.
He’s also the founder of Swatches Academy, where he teaches artists how to level up their skills and process.
In other words, you’ve probably seen his art before. Now you can play on it.
Why we’re hyped about this drop
We love art that does two things at once:
- Reads instantly at the table (strong silhouettes, clear focal points)
- Rewards you up close (details you keep noticing between turns)
That’s Clint’s lane. His work is all about character, expressive faces, strong silhouettes, and the kind of storytelling that makes you invent a backstory mid-game. Whether you’re into cozy adventurer props, eerie myth vibes, neon sci‑fi, or full-on dragon energy, this collection brings serious personality to your battlefield.
The collection (what you’ll find)
